Front-End Web Design

Most of our aspiring volunteers are scared to sign up on this team. You don’t have to. We don’t look for a hardcore coder!

  • It’s good enough for us that you have awesome skills in Photoshop and Illustrator (A solid foundation in the use of Adobe Photoshop CS and basic graphic design principles including color theory)
  • Have basic knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS & JS structure- at least understand enough of it that you can communicate and show what you mean beyond a Photoshop file. Note this doesn’t have to be raw HTML/CSS, you can communicate via a presentation or graphing tool.
  • Enough jQuery for interaction & AJAXy things
  • Good understanding of Web Accessibility, clean code writing, and maintenance.
  • Have a Copy and SEO knowledge
  • Not afraid to try new things and always excited about emerging web technologies such as HTML5 and CSS3
